The LHES Book Fair is this week in our school library. Our students may shop on Tuesday, October 19th during our regular library time. However, if you would like to shop with our children you may come at anytime during the week (8:30-3:00) and attend the book fair with them. Family Night is on Tuesday. The book fair will be open until 6:00 that night for your convenience!

We will have some Halloween fun time on Friday, October 29th. If you would like to send in bags of individual candy or party favors, you may. *Please have everything sent in by Monday, October 25th so that I will have enough time to bag everything for our children. We have 26 students in our room.

I am sure many of you have heard your child talk about Ms. Kati... She is a senior here at LH and comes to our classroom to mentor three mornings a week.  Congrats Ms. Kati!

Parent Teacher Conference Forms went home on Friday. Please send them back as soon as possible. Spots will be filled first-come, first-serve. If you can mark more than one spot when you are available, that would be great!

The kids are so excited to see their name on the wall by the office for joining PTO!!! Thank you to everyone who has joined!! If you have not, please do! This money stays at the elementary and directly affects our school! Dues are $4. The first class to reach 100% membership will win a McDonald’s Happy Meal party!!!! Every class that reaches 100% membership will receive a popsicle party!!!

Our character word for the month of September is responsibility. We are working hard to make good choices and to be responsible for our actions. Please help me continue to instill responsibility in our boys and girls by holding them accountable for his/her behavior. It is very important to be good listeners and to use self control to get the best education possible. We have a great group of children and want them to stay on the best possible path. *Create simple addition stories while riding in the car. Our children love doing this and it helps them to develop their mental math skills. For instance: There were six dogs and two more came over. How many dogs do we have now? Take turns making the problems and make sure that you give your answer with a unit (or label) such as: We now have eight dogs.


*Practice math facts with our boys and girls nightly by “racing” to see who can correctly answer the facts the fastest. This is a great motivator for students to learn those math facts. It only takes a little while each night, and it is fun too.
