The entire second grade will perform the winter musical, “A Bugz Christmas” on Thursday, December 16, in the high school auditorium. There will be a daytime performance for students and an evening performance for family and friends at 7:00 p.m. The students will wear their costumes to school on the day of the performance.

*Girls will be glowworms. Costume suggestions: White sweat suit with florescent orange shirt. You can take a t-shirt and spray paint it florescent orange. It will be stiff, but you can cut it out and glue or sew Velcro to attach to the sweat shirt, or felt costume made with multicolor sections.

*Boys will be wood ticks. Costume suggestions: Grey sweat suit with over sized shirt; make sure the shirt is a little big, so you can stuff the shirt to make the appearance of a tick!

*All of the specialty choir students will be lightning bugs. Costume suggestions: Black sweat suit or clothing with an orange, yellow or blue strip, and a toboggan with the same color stripe around it.

***These are only suggestions; any costume that matches the character will be great! Please remember there will be around 300 students on the stage, so no big costumes please!

Each year I like to have all of my children receive the same class Christmas present. Instead of a gift exchange, this year my students will need to bring 25 small Christmas type favors. These needn’t be expensive (the Dollar Store usually has some inexpensive and cute Christmas treats). I will then bag the “Christmas presents” for our boys and girls. This is usually just as cheap as, or cheaper than, purchasing one gift for an exchange, and this way every child gets the same present. Also, if you would like to send in a bag of wrapped Christmas candy to put with our kiddoes presents, that would be great. I appreciate your help in making this a fun holiday time for our children here at school too! Thanks for everything that you do! *Please have all of your treats for the presents sent in by Monday, December 13th. However, you may begin sending them in at any time. Thanks again!

Please send one of your child’s favorite holiday recipes to school. The recipes may be favorite seasonal recipes (Thanksgiving/ Christmas) or just a favorite recipe you cook throughout the year. It is very important that each child be included, so please send a recipe! Please make sure the recipe is written neatly or typed. Please place your child’s name on the recipe. The deadline to return the recipe is Friday, December 3rd.

Yearbooks are on sale now through November 30. The cost is $20.00 and your checks may be made payable to Lake Hamilton Elementary School. Please send your check (or $20) in an envelope marked yearbook with your child’s name and my name written on the outside.

Our field trip to the Arkansas Arts Center to see Junie B. Jones in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells has been postponed. Unfortunately the show has been sold out. However, we have already made reservations to see The Jungle Book in February. The cost will be the same. I will send you more information in January. For those of you that have already sent in your money for the field trip, I will be returning it to you. I am very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. We are all very disappointed and were looking forward to the trip.
