CONGRATULATIONS SETH FOR BEING LEADER OF THE PACK THIS WEEK!

Skill Support:

*Create simple addition stories while riding in the car. Our children love doing this and it helps them to develop their mental math skills. For instance: There were six dogs and two more came over. How many dogs do we have now? Take turns making the problems and make sure that you give your answer with a unit (or label) such as: We now have eight dogs.

*Practice math facts with our boys and girls nightly by “racing” to see who can correctly answer the facts the fastest. This is a great motivator for students to learn those math facts. It only takes a little while each night, and it is fun too.

Congratulations to COLLEEN for being the first Leader of the Pack!!!!!

~ Thank you to everyone who has joined PTO!! If you have not, please do! This money stays at the elementary and directly affects our school! Dues are $4.

~Thank you for sending in items for the class wish list!

SKILL SUPPORT:

Here are some simple things you can do to help your child!

*When riding in the car, practice your skip counting. For example, pick a number and count by 5s. Stop counting and have your child continue from that number (and so on). Do this with 2s, 5s, 10s, and 3s. Besides passing the time (and having your child try to “win this game” by counting higher than you), this will help your child become more proficient with skip counting, addition, greater than and less than.

*When riding in the car, read those many signs that you see along the road. Take turns and make this a game. Keep count of who can read the most words correctly the quickest.
